Stanhill
Stanhill Methodist Church is located in Stanhill Village and is very much a village chapel, a presence to reach out to the community and share God’s love with everyone. We are a welcoming and inclusive church. Sunday morning worship is fairly traditional, with a mixture of hymns and modern worship songs, although we also embrace alternative styles of worship, such as café church and reflective services.
The church is a former United Free Methodist Chapel and is one of the last such chapels in its original condition. We open our doors for the UK Heritage Open Days every year, with displays, music, a heritage service, and of course, lots of brews and cakes! We also work closely with the Stanhill Village Community Association, especially with regards to the history and heritage of Stanhill Village, the place where James Hargreaves invented the Spinning Jenny in 1764 https://www.stanhillvillage.co.uk/history
The chapel is the hub for the Stanhill Village Heritage Project, offering a rich programme of workshops, talks and presentations for any groups that are interested in exploring the unique village of Stanhill.
Prospects Environmental Foundation meets regularly at our premises for events and meetings around the local Brookside Restoration Project. https://prospectsfoundation.org.uk/
